Ipconfig – Commands

In Windows, ipconfig is a console application that is designed to run command prompt. This command allows you to get the IP address of Windows Machine

Using ipconfig

ipconfig
ipconfig

The ipconfig command is used to find out your current local IP address, default gateway, TCP/IP settings and more

ipconfig /all

ipconfig /all

The ipconfig /all command is used to find out the IP address, default gateway, TCP/IP settings and more for all adaptors. This will show your ethernet adapters full TCP/IP configuration for all adapters on your Windows computer

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /release

This option terminates any active TCP/IP connections on all network adaptors and releases those IP addresses. Ipconfig /release can be used with specific Windows connection names.

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /renew

This Command is used to renew the IP address /network Configuration details from DHCP Server.

ipconfig /displaydns

ipconfig  /displaydns
ipconfig /displaydns

This Command shows the Current DNS Resolver Cache logs, DNS Caching Stores DNS records Locally, it means that it Stores details the website and their IP address so it can load using the DNS Cache instead of resoling it again

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /flushdns

The Flush DNS Command flushes or clears your current DNS resolver cache logs

ipconfig /registerdns

ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /registerdns

This command updates the DNS settings on the Windows. It doesn’t just access the local DNS cache, it initiates communication with the DNS server and the DHCP server so it can re-register the network address

These Commands are very useful for troubleshooting windows issues.
